LTRA was the prime consultant for the 5.7 miles of reconstruction of IH 35E in Dallas and Ellis counties. The estimated construction cost is $62 million. This project consisted of widening the mainlanes from four lanes to six lanes, upgrading the ramps to meet current design criteria, converting frontage roads to one-way operation and designing several intersections. As the prime consultant, LTRA was responsible for the project management, schematic design, freeway and ramp design, hydraulic and storm sewer design, intersection layout and design, retaining wall layouts, cost estimate, traffic control plans, general notes, specifications and the final assembly of the plans. Due to the urgent need to upgrade IH 35E, TxDOT had a very aggressive schedule for this project. LTRA was able to complete the advanced planning and design phases of this project within 18 months.
