As the prime consultant, LTRA was responsible for project management, topographic survey, preparation of existing utility maps, retaining wall layouts, bridge layout, TCP and sequence of construction, SW3P, signing and pavement marking plans. This project included designing 1.1 miles of two four-lane bridges over Lake Ray Hubbard according to NTTA standards and system-wide design guidelines. The bridge connects PGBT Eastern Extension to IH 30 interchange. Each bridge consisted of Type U54 prestressed concrete beams, 52 spans northbound and 52 spans southbound. Close coordination was conducted with TxDOT, NTTA, GEC, City of Garland, City of Dallas Water Utilities (DWU), various utility companies and TxDOT Utility Coordinator. LTRA participated in a VE workshop that recommended several cost-saving measures including beam types, geometry changes, and a reduction in retaining wall heights/lengths. LTRA designed traffic control plans to minimize the number of phases, detours, and temporary shoring. The design of this project is 100% complete and the estimated construction cost is $54,000,000.
