Each year, at the holiday season, LTRA employees come together to donate to a local food pantry. This year they contributed enough food and monetary donations to provide 5,125 meals for hungry children, seniors, and families locally. The various departments at LTRA competed to see which department would have the most in donations. LTRA’s Survey department collected 775 food items, while the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) department collected 460 food items and $1,000 in monetary funds. The Engineering department pulled together and won the challenge by contributing 2,143 food items.
The 2,550 pounds of food was donated to Metrocrest Services, a Partner Agency of the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), a charity organization helping individuals in Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, Coppell, and the city of Dallas in Denton County. A monetary donation of $1,000 was made to the NTFB. The NTFB provides access to more than 170,000 meals for hungry children, seniors, and families in North Texas.
